The basic laws of algebra are used in all
kinds of jobs. The two laws explained here, and a few more, are used in any field
that works with numbers and formulas. These fields include accounting,
engineering, biology, and many others.
In the
bench press example, we saw how the weights on both sides of a bar must
balance. In the next
section, Weight Room Mechanics, wešll look at more complicated examples of
balance. Wešll see how the
laws can be used to find the forces on parts and build them to the right size.
This will help show how all kinds of equipment and machinery are designed.
